Learning how to boost boilies is mainly about controlled application. You want to increase attraction while keeping the bait easy to use and the presentation consistent. These five methods work for loose feed, hookbaits and PVA presentations.
1. Give boilies a light liquid coating
Place the required boilies in a clean bait tub. Shake your liquid, apply a small amount and roll the boilies until the surface is evenly coated. Leave them to absorb it before adding more. This is more controlled than pouring a large dose over one area.
2. Match the attraction profile

3. Boost crumb for faster dispersion
Crushed boilie exposes more surface area than whole bait. Add a light coating to crumb, mix thoroughly and combine it with whole or chopped boilies. The finer pieces can help spread the attraction around a compact feeding area.
4. Build a PVA bag around the hookbait
Use a liquid specifically described as PVA friendly. Add pellets, boilie crumb or small chops to the bag, introduce a controlled amount of liquid and distribute it evenly. 5. Prepare hookbaits separately
Keep a small number of hookbaits in a separate pot and apply liquid gradually. This lets you create a more concentrated hookbait without committing the whole bag of boilies. Allow each coating to absorb before repeating.
How long should boilies soak?
There is no single required time. A short rest can be enough for a light surface coating, while repeated applications need longer to absorb. Texture, temperature and bait formulation all affect the result. The goal is an even, usable bait—not simply the longest soak.
Can you overdo it?
Yes. Excess liquid can make bait difficult to handle, change its texture and waste product. Start lightly, mix well and add more only when there is a clear reason. Consistent preparation helps you judge what worked.
